Nissan Announces the All-Electric Leaf

Production of the new electric Leaf is expected to start in 2013 and to reach 50,000 units per year. The car will run exclusively off a lithium-ion battery. Nissan is expected to invest around £420 million in electric vehicle production. Battery production is also being carried out in Sunderland, creating up to 350 new jobs.
