Senior staff of the NAC Group and Nissan will shortly be visiting Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu in southern India, to investigate opportunities for collaboration on training for the automotive sector. Chennai is an important base for the Indian automotive industry, and lies at the heart of India's rapidly growing economy.

The NAC Group has worked as a strategic partner of Nissan for some years, and this relationship has produced a number of world class training products in the field of lean systems thinking, and tools and techniques for improving business productivity.

For example, one training product is a course in lean that has been specifically developed to meet the need for skilled manufacturing staff in the automotive sector. This could be of great interest to the Indians. The NAC Group's training programmes are fully accredited by bodies with a worldwide reputation.

Lesley Roberts, NAC Group's Head of Curriculum Development, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us to assess the suitability of NAC's training ideas and products for transfer into the Indian automotive sector. We are already holding exploratory discussions with potential partner organisations."

While in Chennai, NAC Group staff will be holding meetings with the local university, automotive companies - including Nissan - and representatives of the UK and Indian governments. They will also be looking into the possibility of establishing a local office.
