New inventory controls established at Doby! Ross McKenna, Administration Manager said: ‘The reporting now makes it very clear to focus on what the real issues are and also to show where the improvements are being made. We would recommend this project to any Companies who are looking to improve or even just confirm to themselves they are doing things well.'

Doby Verrolec was formed in 1999 when the original Doby Cleats merged as part of the Westfalia group. Doby was originally established in the North East of England since 1969, the facility is situated in Stanley, County Durham. The company is a market leader in the manufacture of ductwork jointing systems and also manufactures a wide variety of other profiles including Roller Shutter Door profiles and pressed parts for use within the Air-con and Ventilation sector of the Building and Construction Industry.

As part of the Growth Project Logistics activity a cross functional team from various areas of the business was established to assess the current Planning and Inventory control aspects in place. The main focus activity was the overhaul of the Inventory Control practices and the need to establish a clear reporting platform to produce a true Inventory Accuracy figure.

Transport Manager, Davey Allen and Warehouse Supervisor, Ritchie Hegarty developed stringent Inventory Control policies which are now in place to ensure all product types are counted and reported on by month to the Senior Management Team. As part of the inventory investigation process Controlled group counts are now established to ensure the ‘loop is closed' and the identification of the root cause of errors are determined.
